1. Stick to your budget
We do understand that your Wedding Day is one of the most important days of your life, which you could have been dreaming of since a young age, however it is not an excuse to blow all your savings. Before you start any kind of planning put together a budget of what you want to spend on your day and stick to it. Outline what is most important to you so that you know the areas you can maybe splurge a little and the items you can try save on. Make sure you ask around for tips and tricks of items you can maybe make yourself and attend Wedding Fairs and Open Days as a lot of suppliers offer discounts if booked on the day.
2. Hire a professional photographer
Although you might be trying to stick to a budget the one area we think that is worth spending a little extra on is your photographer. Make sure you check the testimonials and pictures from previous weddings they have photographed. After the big day you will have your memories and photos so it is important that these are of good quality.
3. Don’t plan your own Bridal Shower or Hen Party
As the Bride you are already taking on the task of planning your Wedding Day and it is time to relax and enjoy a day about you planned by your maid of honour and bridesmaids. Of course your opinions and ideas should still be taken into consideration but it is a great opportunity to stand back and let your family and friends make the decisions.
4. Memorise your Wedding Vows
Standing up in front of your friends and family can be a little daunting however it will be one of the most important speeches you ever do. Odds are you will be a little nervous and excited on your Wedding Day, meaning it’s easy to forget. Make sure you practise, practise, practise. If you make sure that your wedding officiant has a copy just in case you need a little prompt.
5. Don’t wear brand new shoes on your Wedding Day
On your Wedding Day you will spend a lot of time on your feet. It is always a good idea to make sure you have worn your Wedding Shoes in a little prior to the big day to make them more comfy. Make sure you bring a spare pair of flat shoes or trainers to change into later for dancing. Another tip is to buff the soles of your shoes with a bit of sandpaper to prevent from slipping when walking down the aisle.
6. Do have a make-up and hair trial
It is a good idea to have a run through of what your make-up and hair will look like on the day. This allows you to test out how you are going to wear your veil as well. It is a good idea to take a camera and take a couple of photos as well to make sure you a completely happy with the look.
7. Don’t forget about your Fiancé
It may not be something that you think you are doing but it is easy to get caught up in colour schemes, floral arrangements and seating plans. Don’t forget what all the planning and stressing is really for. You are committing yourself to spend the rest of your life together so make sure you don’t forget about his ideas for the Big Day. Most importantly don’t give up date night or your regular Friday night in front of the tv with a pizza. It is important to keep talking to each other and your life together out with the wedding plans.
8. Do enjoy the planning process
Make sure you take time to enjoy planning your Wedding Day and take advantage of being the centre of attention. Spend time trying on a variety of wedding dresses, sampling wedding cakes and looking at table decorations. It should be an fantastic experience to spend with your friends and family.
